i shall not be irritated.
participation points for speaking up in class is a common feature in uni. and it has its uses, of course, since we all noe what participation levels are like in classes at secondary and jc level. if no incentives are given to speak, no one will.
but honestly this system has created a free-for-all market in class. too many students expressing their views disrupts the learning atmosphere and detracts the tutor from his lesson plan. it is worse when some students behave as if they are the only students in class and other voices are drowned out by their incessant comments and questions. some of which arent really relevant.
certainly, as fee-paying students they are obliged to do so. but in my opinion this behaviour could be said to lack consideration for fellow classmates. in fact i feel it is also a lack of respect.
but then it is not up to me to determine what should be done, but rather what i should do to adapt. be more vocal? be more assertive? be more irritating?!
i declare that i would sell my soul b4 i wayang for participation points. i would not speak unless i feel i have something of substance to add. which is truly and really the point isnt it? why bring up a point u noe is simply obvious to everyone else?
2nd upper honours! jia you!
God help me.
